Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organisation (WEWE) is soliciting for individuals to fill job vacancies for a 5-year USAID funded project called ‘Local Partners Initiative for Orphans and

Vulnerable Children (LOPIN) 2 Project in Its Abuja Office. WEWE is a local NGO with its head office in Abuja, FCT. WEWE is earnestly looking for individuals who are highly skilled, intelligent, hardworking and exceptional in their field.

 Job Title:  Finance Officers (Volunteer)

Qualifications and skills:
• A minimum of HND or B.Sc. in Accounting with a second class upper division is preferred
• A minimum of ( 2) year experience in Accounting
• Ability to use Quick book accounting software
• Experience working on USAID/PEPFAR funded vulnerable children programs
• Ability to develop budgets for USAID funded projects

Job Title:   Gender Officer

The Main Responsibilities:
To provide expert advice and support to program staff to ensure that gender and protection issues are consistently and effectively mainstreamed into WEWE Orphans and Vulnerable Children project.

Qualification and Experience required:

  • A minimum of a university degree in any  science or social science course
  • Ability to design programs to ensure gender mainstreaming
  • An understanding of gender norms among children is desirable
  • Knowledge of USAID recent gender strategy is required
  • Experienced in conducting gender audits and assessments
  • Extremely strong computer skills
  • Strong analytical skill
  • Very strong report writing skills
  • Fluency in both written and oral English is required.

Job Title: New Business Development/Proposal Writing Officer

The Main Responsibilities:
To identify new business opportunities for WEWE and follow up with writing concept notes, full proposals and filling application forms for funding to support WEWE’s work on the USAID funded LOPIN 2 project.

Job Duties:
1. Resource Mobilization, New Business, Strategic Planning Development/Proposal Development which will involve the following:
– Search for new business opportunities for WEWE via Fund for NGO website, daily newspapers and other websites.
– Develop a ‘go or no go’ list for funding opportunities that list all possible funding opportunities  and make a recommendation of which one WEWE should go for Format CV and resume of potential candidates for proposals.
– Conduct mapping of potential donors and visit them to make further enquires.
– Identify international networks that WEWE needs to register with for membership.
– Develop systems for forecasting opportunities and setting up ‘go or no go’ criteria. The term ‘go or no go’ is used to describe a process of making a decision whether an organization should go for a new business opportunity or not.
– New business brokering (setting up new business meetings with potential partner  donors, companies and government agencies),
– Partnership development strategy i.e. identifying potential international and local, technical partners to be sub partner on proposals.
– Identify funding opportunities; on internet, on newspapers and visit with international and local donor.
– Forecast and develop a list of upcoming opportunities that WEWE is eligible to apply for e.g. DFID – Girls Education Initiative
– Track new business opportunities.
– Meet with potential partner organizations to identify and negotiate strategic partnerships.
– Write technical sections of concept notes, proposals and applications for funding.
– As needed, determine and collect costing information.
Qualification and Experience required:

  • A minimum of university degree or HND in any social science or science course.
  • Very strong English writing skills.
  • Strong verbal reasoning, spelling and English diction.
  • Extremely strong computer skills particularly in MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Strong computer technology skills. i.e ability to search the internet and fill forms online.
  • Very strong report writing skills.
  • Fluency in both written and oral English is required

Job Title:  Corporate Lawyer/Legal Adviser

Main Responsibilities:
To carry out registration activities with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Abuja in line with the Nigerian Companies Allies and Matters (CAMA) decree No1 1990 Act CAP. The corporate affairs lawyer will work to conduct registration for predominantly incorporated trustees and limited by guarantee companies. The lawyer will be responsible for conducting name availability search, drafting constitutions, filing applications for registrations and filing annual returns. The corporate lawyer will also write proposals and follow up on new business development meetings.
Job Duties:
• Register Companies (predominantly incorporated trustees and limited by guarantee companies) for clients.
• Vet Company contracts to protect client interests.
• Provide legal advice on NGO registration issues.
• Take part in drafting Executive Board resolutions.
• Perform all other assigned legal related activities.
Educational Qualification:
• 2.1 (Second Class Upper) LL.B and B.L in Law from a reputable University. LL.M will be added advantage.
1. Must have a law degree – WEWE prefers the candidate to have a 2.1
2. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a corporate law firm.
3. Must have knowledge in corporate law, contract law, labor law, tax law and intellectual property.
4. Experience in reviewing, executing business contracts and giving legal advice.
5. Familiarity with the current Cooperate Affairs Commission (CAC) policies and guidelines is crucial.
6. Up-to-date knowledge on company/NGO registration and legislation in Nigeria.
7. Sound drafting skills and exceptional accuracy.
8. Strong strategic and analytical thinker.
9. Excellent communication skills and engaging personality.
10. Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
11. Proficient in the use of computer especially MS word and Excel.
Critical Competencies:
– Excellent writing skills with little or no review needed.
– Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
– Analytic Thinking.
– Company/NGO registration experience.
