Joint Initiative for Development (JID) is a Non-profit, youth-led and focused organization run by young people between the ages of 18 and 35 years old. The organization is duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission as a Non Governmental Organization.

The organization is formed from the need to inspire young persons and indeed citizens to get involved in the community development process. We are of the opinion that a community can not be effectively developed by isolating its constituents. This has therefore formed our assertion that the involvement of community dwellers in the community development process will aid the development of such community

Joint Initiative for Development (JID) is  recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Accounting Officer
Location:
Abuja
Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist in the timely billing of accounts
  • Maintain a filing system for account receivable records
  • Assist in balancing daily transfer to city ledger and post, edit and update to accounts receivable system
  • Assist in the reconciliation of accounts
  • Respond to and resolve account queries
  • Collate suppliers documentation for processing
  • Ensure all invoices have the appropriate documentation attached and approvals prior to processing
  • Process all invoices and statements
  • Record and process payments of goods and services
  • Maintain clear lines of communication with outside companies to ensure timely and accurate supply of goods and services
  • Check arithmetic accuracy and invoices
  • Assist in reconciling the weekly purchase log
  • Prepare cheque run for approval on a weekly basis.
  • Reconcile supplier statements with established records and report any discrepancies.

Skills/Competencies

  • Proficient in Accounting Package and MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint etc.)
  • Able to work independently and in collaboration with a team
  • Must have strong investigative skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Strong ethical commitment to impartiality and transparency.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Applicant should possess a B.Sc/HND in Accounting
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role.
  • Competence in Microsoft office products, most especially Excel and accounting software programmes (Sage & Peach tree)

Job Title: IT Support Officer

Job Descriptions

  • Adequate 1st Line IT support is available during business hours for Head Office and all branches
  • A bit of graphic and programming experience
  • Smooth running of all user IT software
  • Smooth running of all user IT hardware(desktop, printers, scanners) in office.
  • Ubiquitous e-mail access to all staff in assigned branch
  • All PCs and Servers have up to date anti-virus signatures and windows patches
  • Quick and precise installation of PC software in accordance with the manual
  • Guaranteed restricted access to business documents on the system at Head Office and branches
  • All PCs and network free from threats (Virus, Trojans, Malware, Worms)

Job Education

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Management or Information Systems are sought.
  • Candidate should possess Bachelor’s degree with 2 – 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ideal candidates for this position must have a demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking, the ability to conduct dialogue on relevant development policies and priorities, and be fluent in English with very good writing and communication skills.

Job Skills

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Management or Information Systems are sought.
  • Candidate should possess Bachelor’s degree with 2 – 3 years of relevant experience.

Job Title: Legal Officer
Location:

Job Description

  • Provide legal advice/opinion on various issues relating to the Institute and its subsidiaries
  • Undertake legal research and legal interpretation of all relevant laws including the Institute’s staff, financial and other internal regulations
  • Prepare agreements and other legal instruments as well as memoranda and correspondences
  • Review all agreements and legal documents, which may create legal obligation for the Institute
  • Oversee the registration and verification of contractors and consultants for the institute
  • Work with external solicitors on cases involving the Institute
  • Update the Institute’s details with relevant regulatory authorities when necessary
  • Handle matters related to the board of directors and secretariat
  • Handle matters related to the reflection of structural changes of the Institute.
  • Provide legal guidance/advice on various issues such as corporate regulatory compliance, privacy, anti-trust and competition laws, advertising/promotional matters, corporate governance, fiduciary duty, ethics and strategic transactions within the Department of Administration/Institute, including the preparation of memoranda and correspondences
  • Provide corporate policy guidance by providing advice on labor relations, employment law and benefits matter
  • Update the details of the Institute and its subsidiaries at the Corporate Affairs Commission when necessary
  • Coordinate other legal and related matters with external solicitors as may be needed/directed
  • Perform such other administrative duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and or the Director of Administration.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent analytical, planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to use initiative (be proactive)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent communication skills in English, written/verbal and diplomacy
  • Have good interpersonal, relationship management skills and possess the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent computer skills

Education/Experience

  • Candidates should have an LLB, BL with a minimum of second class Upper division
  • At least 3 years post call experience
